Lewiston Civic Theatre
Built by the Lewiston Methodist Church in
1907, the building and many of its features are currently
in the process of restoration. This lovely historic castle-like
structure is home to the theatre since 1972. When first
purchased the church and the theater shared the building.
Housed in the historic Bollinger Performing Arts Center
is the award winning Lewiston Civic Theatre
A janitor who disappeared that same night
and never found murdered two girls in the theater that was
once a church. People in the theatre see the little girl
at night and she delights to playing tricks on anyone there.
Another apparition is a woman, left at the
altar when it was a church. She moves through the theater
crying.
Actors see a former director’s late
at night. He sits down and watches the show and those that
cannot see him, feel his presence.
A trap door in a light booth that goes up to the rafter
opens by itself and light go on and off without anyone touching
the switch. A chandelier spins in one direction for ten
minutes, stops for five, and starts spinning in the same
direction.
Visitors lit candles on stage and immediately
some went out on their own. The ones that didn’t go
out, did not burn the holder’s hand when they touched
the flame. About the same time, there was wailing that started
from stage right and moved inhumanly fast to stage left.
Floorboards move inexplicably. All the spirits there are
harmless, of course, but it's still an exhilarating experience.
The theater is located at 805 6th Avenue.
